The scene is when Cain was disturbed because his brothers offering was accepted by God as a sacrifice, and Cain felt rejected. 

How often in our life have we felt a rejection or passed over when promotions were given? Many times, I was rejected when submitting essays or devotionals to publishers and they replied: “Sorry, but we can’t use this at this time.” I have often been told to ‘keep on keeping on.’ I remember years ago when I purposely sought out additional training and instruction for a job position, yet someone else was given the position.

During these times, Satan can attack us with the thought ‘you’re not worthy or good enough, just give up.’ When we are attacked like Cain, we can feel left out and alone, and became ‘easy mad’ about things disturbing as my dad said. At the moment of his disappointment, God instructed Cain; ‘But you must master the sin nature crouching at your door.’ God wanted Cain and us to be wise and aware that Satan will encourage us to act out of our fleshes inherited sin nature when things get tough. We need to be ready to thwart these attacks and consciously seek to recognize that our Lord, who always takes care of us, must have something better for us.

Most certainly were called by our Lord to follow Him, to let Him provide and make provision for what He knows to be essential and necessary for the season of life we’re in.

‘Father, teach us to do well that the power of the flesh will not take over our lives and our actions when things do not go our way. AMEN’
