Chosen - Karen Pourbabaee “It was not you who chose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain…” John 15:16 NAB
Do you remember the moment you realized who Jesus was and humbly bowed in surrender? Of that, not one of us can boast. It is the supernatural grace of God that brings us to our knees. He chose us long before we ever thought of Him. Peter confirms that we are “…chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father.” (1 Peter 1:1-2) He chose us first!
The Father has both chosen us and appointed us. Appointment infers a position, job, assignment, or purpose. In 1 Peter 2:9, Peter reminds us that we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for God’s own possession. From the moment we are chosen, we belong to Him, and appointed to go and bear fruit. In Paul’s letter, Colossians 3:12-17, he informs us of what we are appointed to as God’s chosen ones. Here is what we are asked to put on as the attire of the chosen: *Put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience
*Put on forgiveness, bearing with one another
*Put on love, the bond of perfection *Put on the peace of Christ, letting it rule your heart
*Put on thankfulness
*Put on the Word of Christ and wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God
*Put on the Lord’s Name, doing everything in the name of Jesus
Therefore, let us work on building up our wardrobe that we might appear amongst the world as His chosen, and be equipped to live out our appointment in His kingdom. Amen.
