Building Faith on Truth – Susan Barnes "According to your faith will it be done to you." Matthew 9:29
Notice that this verse doesn't say, according to your feelings will it be done to you. The Christian life is about what we believe, not about what we feel. Someone once said, "Don't rely on your feelings they change with every green apple you eat!'
Faith comes from hearing God’s message (Romans 10:17), but this isn’t quite as simple as it sounds. Do we know God’s message, in his Word? The devil is apt at misquoting Scripture, which is why it’s a good habit to read God’s Word regularly. Eve thought she knew God's instructions regarding the fruit of the tree in the garden, but she actually misquotes them. She says: “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die’” (Genesis 3:2-3). God didn't tell them they couldn't touch the fruit. When Eve touched the fruit and nothing happened, she was deceived into thinking that it was all right to eat it. Adam, who was standing with her (verse 6), didn’t correct her misquotation.
The Bereans were said to be "of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true" (Acts 17:11). We are encouraged to be like Bereans. It isn’t a lack of faith to check for ourselves what the Scriptures teach, rather our faith grows when it’s built on truth, and not on feelings.

Radical New Covenant Bible Studies for Radical Freedom in Christ
Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant letter of the law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross. And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Recent Amazon Review:
"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17 |
