The Danger of Religiosity - Toni M. Babcock “Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; which devour widows’ houses and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.” (Luke 20:46-47 KJV)
These words wouldn’t carry so much weight if they hadn’t been spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ himself as recorded in the holy scripture. Jesus was addressing a problem that still arises when religion is reduced to a form without any real power to transform the human heart. Jesus was describing people full of pride and conceit, selfishness, and pretention.
The Apostle Paul spoke of those who were “…heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” (refer to 2 Timothy 3:4-5 KJV) He spoke of a reality not just relegated to one era of time. Yet praise the Lord, God is faithful regardless of a natural inclination to subvert the gospel of Jesus. Throughout the ages, He reaches out and transforms lives, not because of man’s powerless religiosity, but in spite of it. The Apostle Paul was saved from a life of powerless religiosity. Redeemed by Christ, he could finally say “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and give himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 KJV)

Radical New Covenant Bible Studies for Radical Freedom in Christ
Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant letter of the law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross. And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Perfect to equip the believer for defending their faith. Ideal to send to a skeptical friend or family member. Great for teens and young adults who have never reviewed the objective evidence for God's existence and identity.
An in-depth study of the factual evidence leads a person to realize how little faith they need to believe, while they gain great faith at the same time.
Running close to 5 stars with over 180 online reviews.
Recent Amazon Review:
"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17 |
