This is nothing else but the abode of God, and that is the gateway to heaven.” Genesis 28:17 NABShining shafts of luminous light penetrated the lacy leaves of the forested, creek-side land just outside my bedroom window. For me, it’s nature’s cathedral! At the center of the dense lot of trees is a larger opening to the sky, an expanse of heavenly blueness, like a portal to heaven. A gateway where the words of my heart may find passage unto the courts of God. It seems kind of magical, yet it depicts a spiritual reality that is comforting. The portal of heaven is always open, and the lights are always on! Brilliant luminosity at daytime, but even in night’s darkness, we have starlight and moonlight! Our Father is always home and always attentive. “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears turned to their prayers…” (1Peter 3:12) Nothing magical, merely God’s promise. A promise we are to approach in faith. Waiting at His gate is a place of blessing, for it is an act of faith itself to wait. “Happy is the man who is so anxious to be with Me that he watches for Me daily at my gates, or waits for Me outside My home!” (Proverbs 8:34LB) Now, here comes the blessing: “For whoever finds Me, finds life and wins approval from the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:35) In whatever situation we are walking through, there is new life to be found when we find the Lord, when we connect with Him in prayer.
