Speaking His Words – Toni Babcock “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17 KJV)
There are two reactions to being convinced or convicted of some error in attitude or thinking. People either get quiet and thoughtful, or they get mad and noisy. Have you ever calmly stated an objection to someone else’s opinion but were met with loud resistance?
Don’t assume that just because someone is louder than you, they must be right; and you somehow are out of line, having the audacity to bring up your objection. If you’ve touched a nerve with your words and gotten a noisy response, it may well be God is using your words which may ultimately be proven useful in helping change someone else’s mind. God promises to guide our speech so that we can face opposition and persecutions in life with confidence. Jesus said, “But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you,” (Matthew 10:20 KJV).
This does not imply Jesus has given us license to speak mindless, thoughtless words - far from it. We should be so aware of the presence of Jesus in our life, so immersed in the word of God and constant in prayer – that the Holy Spirit is able to speak through us instantaneously if need be. Be strong in the Lord and be a light in the world. Don’t be afraid of the darkness.
