Greetings Favored One! – Emmanuella Ellis And coming in, he said to her, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you. Luke 1:28 NAS
Truly, to bring forth the Son of God into this world, was one of the greatest callings a person could ever have. No wonder Mary is called the favored one. I always wondered how she was chosen among women of all generations. I also wondered if I would be chosen. It's easy to think there will never be such a great calling again. But it dawned on me, I have been called to birth forth Christ into this world too.
The day that I first believed and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, I entered a close personal relationship with Him. It was on that day that He placed the Holy Spirit in me, causing me to be favored and birth forth Christ for the lost. To birth forth Christ is for Christ to become evident in our lives so that it's He who lives and not us. If this is the case, then all Christians are favored, since all are called upon to do the same.
The interesting thing is, the Greek word used for “favored” in Luke 1:28, is only used one other time in the New Testament, Eph 1:6. It means the same thing it does in Luke 1:28, but only a few translations have it correct.
to the praise of His glorious grace that He favored us with in the Beloved. Eph 1:6 HCSB
We have also been favored and chosen to bring forth Jesus. Mary fulfilled her calling by allowing the Holy Spirit to take over and we marvel. Now, it’s our turn. I guess its right to address you as the favored one.
