It’s marvelous to contemplate the love of God for us in Christ and realize what we are here for. In his wonderful book Goliath Must Fall, Louie Giglio makes a wonderful statement: “The point of our lives is the fame of Jesus.” I love that! We’re not here for our glory; we’re here for God’s glory! Yet, how often do we forget?
Most of us feel hurt by the rejection of others and may find ourselves caught in a comparison rut trying to “measure up” so we’ll feel accepted. I came to a point in my life where I decided people don’t need to love or believe in me – they just need to love and believe in Jesus. It was a liberating thought. I still need to remind myself from time to time.
The truth is, we don’t need to be liked, loved, or accepted by everyone we meet – we just need to live for the glory of God in Christ who loved us and gave Himself for us. We can’t always trust our feelings when we get those troubling “rejection vibes,” but we can always trust in what God says about believers in His word. God says “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 KJV)
