We’re Responsible for Faith Given Robert Schaetzle “For by the grace given to me I bid every one among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith which God has assigned him.” Romans 12:3 RSV
How often we might ask our Lord; “Increase My Faith!” Our Lord’s apostles asked the same question often. We witness’s this in all three of the synoptic gospels. We must be discerning to recognize when we call out to Him over something close to our heart. God will always provide to us according to the measure of faith that will bring Him honor. Whether it’s a prayer petition or asking God to demonstrate His power through us; as measuring out faith. He will provide only what He knows we can handle.
This does not mean we believe God will not provide enough faith. But for us to know and receive wisdom to discern what God desires from the faith that is given. He might have something more appropriate for us than requested and this could very well be less than we think we need, but He knows what we can handle at this point in our walk. We know He listens to our heart, and only He knows what our heart is strong enough to accept. Therefore, we walk content by the measure of faith given for what is before us, being transparent and trustworthy.
How much I’ve learned over the years, seeking more time with our Lord by reading, meditating, and memorizing His written promises. As concerns and burdens came upon my heart, these well-planted seeds brought revelation as God measured out His faith to me to face any temptation.
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 RSV
