Bible Wisdom for Today – Sheriena McEvers “Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. (1 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV)
Comparing God’s wisdom with the wisdom of man is like comparing the wisdom of a wise older adult with that of a two-year-old. Human wisdom can never measure up to God’s wisdom. It is not that our wisdom is bad, but compared to God’s, it is nearsighted foolishness, lacking the whole unchanging truth. When the wisdom of the Bible conflicts with the experts of the world, we repeatedly see that the secular experts are in error.
What does the Bible say? To what wisdom should we anchor our life? Does it cover all life? Yes, both interpersonal and intrapersonal problems. Mental issues find solutions in the Bible. God promises freedom for addicts of every kind. A new life is a fact for the born again. God’s wisdom, His truth, is the only wisdom that sets us free.
In this time when some church leaders are indicating that some things are no longer sin, the Bible is outdated, or God’s grace is not enough, let’s be very careful. Paul warns us in his first letter to Timothy about the latter days and how even believers could be deceived. Be careful. Let’s not let our flesh determine what we will and will not believe.
If we need enlightenment, let’s go to the Bible. It will not lead us astray.
Eternal Father, may we see that your wisdom is much wiser than any earthly expert. We can trust you and your word completely. Amen
