An Unanswered Prayer? Harriett Ford I asked the Lord once if He ever had a prayer that went unanswered. He immediately took me to the gospel of Matthew 6: 9, where He taught the disciples about prayer.
Suddenly it became apparent to me. When Jesus said, “Your kingdom come,” He was not pleading with the Father for this to happen. The Lord was issuing a decree for the kingdom, which is “not of this world,” to be established “on earth as it is in heaven.” (Job 22: 28). He did not have to beg for it since He knew already that this is the Father’s will. He was speaking like His Heavenly Father speaks—declaring the end from the beginning (Isa. 46: 10).
What an amazing thought. Those words, spoken by believers in agreement with the Lord Jesus Christ for centuries, have the power to usher in the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven! (Matt. 18: 18).
The Father’s will is for no more tears, sickness, death, or troubles here on earth as it is in heaven. What a powerful decree. That prayer has not yet been answered as Satan is still the god of this world. The unseen kingdom of Light is here only in the spirits of born again believers.
However, that prayer is soon to be fulfilled at the return of the Lord.
Father, I pray these words of Jesus. Faith says what God says. Let Your will be done, and Your kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven. Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever. Come Lord Jesus! Amen.
