The Good Work - Karen Pourbabaee “I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NASB
Do you hold a long-held dream in your heart, a mission you yearn to accomplish in your life? Something you believe God wants you to do? Do you look within and seek a change? Despite your best efforts, is there something in you only God can achieve? Those desires, callings, and visions are signs of the good work that the Lord is engineering. Philippians assures us that we can trust God to complete it.
From eternity, the Father planned the good work He would do in you. A unique work, unlike any other. “For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus…” (Ephesians 2:10) That good work is ultimately to conform you to the image of His Son. (Romans 8:29) And that good work is part of the ongoing process of transformation that occurs as we submit to the truth of God’s Word and renew our mind. “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
Philippians states God “will continue to complete it.” The good work in you is not momentary or instantaneous; transformation is a life-long process. If desires, callings, and visions are stirred up within you now, rest assured that the Father will complete your good work. Pray with David in Psalm 138:8: “The Lord will accomplish what concerns me. Thy lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting. Do not forsake the works of Thy hands.” Amen.
