My Missteps - Ken Ebright

I’ve made some big mistakes in life, having learning difficulties did not help. When I was younger, I had a limited income and no budget. Based on my wild spending, I should be living under a bridge in a box, riding the bus everywhere.
Despite my missteps, I am blessed with a job that pays a bit more than minimum wage. It’s not an easy or popular job, so my boss does not want to lose me. Therefore, I have job security, another blessing. Thankfully, I also have a car that gets me to where I need to go and a roof over my head with a warm bed to sleep in every night.
Over the years, God has taught me to be thankful for even the little things. When I was a courier, I would see all kinds of accidents, even a box truck engulfed in flames. I realized through that job to not take anything for granted, but to be grateful for every blessing God sends.
Though it is not much, sometimes I do not feel that I deserve what I do have. I deserve the consequences for my mistakes. Yet the Lord sees it differently. He has been so merciful and gracious to me all my life, even when I could not see it. He died on the cross for my sins, taking my punishment so I could go free. Because of Jesus, I know for certain what my future holds despite my missteps, eternal life with my heavenly Father.
