The Glory of Christ in Us – Toni Babcock Remember when Jesus drove out the money changers from the Temple? I believe He fills his people with the same kind of zeal for God. Jesus doesn't allow Himself to be sold for a price. Whenever a believer is tempted to embrace another savior, immediately the Spirit of Jesus begins to turn over the tables, and drive out the tempters, so to speak. Christians can entertain no other savior longer than it takes to put on the full armor of God and drive out whatever or whoever seduces them to put their faith in another, for they are the temple of the living God, and Jesus would have it no other way.
As Christians, we come from different backgrounds and traditions. So what ties us together? Empty hands which cannot save ourselves, and hearts that believe in Jesus. We believe Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, so that no matter how beautiful the trappings of religiosity, or persuasive the influence we find ourselves under, whenever we are encouraged to look to something other than Christ to save our souls, we choose to cling to Christ.
Whether it's our performance, or somebody else's; if ever we feel a compulsive need to go through anything or anybody except Jesus Christ to earn favor with God, in all these imaginations we arm ourselves with the truth. We turn and look to Christ. We say with John the Baptist, "Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29 KJV ). We plead the blood of Christ and flee for refuge to the Rock of Ages, to Christ Jesus himself, and to the light of the true gospel. This is the glory of Christ in us.
