Something of Substance – Harriett Ford
"We walk by faith and not by sight," (2 Cor. 5: 7 KJV)
Something tangible and of substance they could see and touch. When Moses left, they made an idol of gold to worship. An idol that could not see, hear, or answer their prayers. Even today, many people will substitute such worthless things for the true and living God who is an invisible Spirit.
Do we give our physical realm greater dominion over us than the spiritual realm? For instance the doctor's report? Of course, we follow sound medical advice, but doctors are limited in what they can do.
Faith has substance, according to Hebrews 11:1 KJV. Faith has in it the substance (the physical reality) of things hoped for. The definition of substance is "that of which a thing consists; physical matter or material."
Abraham called into existence things that did not yet exist in the physical world. His faith activated the promise. Romans 4:17 KJV says before God in Whom he believed, he called those things which did not exist as though they did. He believed first without having to see it. He did not need something tangible, something he could see and touch. God's Word was enough. Heavenly Father, I am Yours. Every promise in Your word is yes and amen. I will not speak doubt, which is the substance of things feared. I have faith in your Word. Teach me to give greater thought, meditation, and voice to Your promises than to a storm of illness. Before You, I call healing in my body, soul, and spirit as though it is already accomplished. I know it is, in the spirit realm, according to Your Word. Amen.
