Gifts, Giving and Receiving Pam Ford Davis “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13 KJV).”
Christmas is the gift giving season. You and I may have never thought of it in this way; yet, it is also the gift receiving season. We may even drop hints about what we’d like to receive. How cruel it would be to refuse the presents of family and friends. Imagine the hurt our rejection would cause.
Now, compare that to the rejection of Jesus. He is God’s greatest gift.
Have you received him?
Will you believe on Jesus?
He will not force entry into our lives. We are free to receive or reject him. He waits. Those who choose to receive and believe are born of God.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:6-7 KJV).”
Note the results. The believer becomes a child of God; the heavenly Father welcomes us into his family. The Lord is our redeemer, provider, protector and guide.
Father, I thank you for giving us your Son. I pray that many will make the decision to receive your gift of Jesus during this Christmas season.
