Predator on the Prowl – Harriett Ford

"Ma'am I brought your dog back," the neighbor said, holding our twelve-week old puppy. Snitzel leaped into my arms. His tongue lapped at my neck in joyful greeting.
"Oh, I'm so grateful you found him! We have a predator in our rural area that's been devouring small pets." I thanked Mr. Sears again as he was leaving.
Instead of punishing him, I cuddled the pup and reminded myself to repair the gate. He had wriggled through a loose board. Once on the floor, Snitzel began scratching at his collar. "Listen," I advised, "We don't collar you to make you a slave. We do that to show ownership. Your home is with us. We don't vaccinate you to cause you pain. We do that to protect you from fatal diseases," He wiggled and yipped joyfully, making me smile. "Naughty boy. I'm glad you're safe. But you can't roam just anywhere."
The Lord seemed to whisper, "I'm glad when you're found safe also. The seal of the Holy Spirit marks you as Mine. My blood pronounces you cleansed from the infection of sin. But You have a predator too. Stay under the umbrella of obedience." I pondered that a moment.
Father, I'm so glad You care enough about me to seal me with Your Holy Spirit. I'm so glad you sent Your Son to cleanse my sins and heal all my diseases by His stripes. I'm so glad I have a heavenly home.
The Lord seemed to impress on my spirit, "Only your voice can tell me how glad you are to be home." With joyful lips, I gave Him praise.
