The Saddest of All – Karen White
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV
I read of someone who has only a few months to live. It was a sad story but as I completed the story, I remembered hearing that as one is dying, their life flashes before their eyes. Would your life story include people inviting you to church or attempting to tell you of God’s love, but you refused to listen. And, now, as you are entering eternity in Hell, you realize your mistake.
Or, what if, you occasionally attended church, put a few coins in the collection plate, and told others how much you love Jesus? But, in reality, you never repented from your sins or committed to Him. Your life was for show, one with a disastrous ending.
The person in the story has time to get their life in order. But not everyone is warned that death is approaching. Think about it, your life story is playing out before your eyes; do you have the comfort of knowing that the Lord will welcome you home? Or will He say, “depart from me for I never knew you”, now that is the saddest story of all.
Dear Lord, Thank You for Your gift of salvation!
