"My soul waits in silence for God. From Him is my salvation." Psalm 62:1 NAS
God's desire for each of us is to wait for Him in silence, a quality of being or keeping still and silent, without speech or noise. TV off. Phone put away. Lips zipped. We are to approach Him in silence…in quietness, soundlessness, peacefulness…if we are to hear His call to our seeking, impoverished hearts. In our lives of desperation, God is our salvation.
Quiet. I am your salvation.
Wonder why God asks this of you? His Word proclaims: "Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10. How can you know without listening, without hearing, that you may learn?
Quiet. I will reveal Myself to you.
Therefore, be still that you may know Him. Still is from the Hebrew rapa, meaning to cease---to stop frantic activity, both mental and physical. Immobilize.
What else is received as you wait on the Lord? "My soul waits in silence for God only. For my hope is from Him." Psalm 62:5
Quiet. I will give you hope.
His hope will give you something to look for, to expect. Hope will propel you forward on your journey of faith. Hope will deliver calmness and peace to your life. So come before the Lord and wait until hope wells up within your soul.
The sounds of silence will become a celebration of salvation and hope, in the presence of a God whom your soul knows and loves.
Quiet. He waits for you.
