Used and Abused - Karen White

Have you ever helped someone and the more you aided the more they required? After a while you began to feel like they were taking advantage of you to the point of abuse. I have to confess I have but it was during one of these situations that I thought about God and how He must feel.
There is an old saying that there are no atheists in a fox hole. This means that when one's life is in danger they will call out to God. Some of us call out to Him regularly, usually asking Him to get us out of a situation and or take care of something that is creating havoc in our life. And He always answers, maybe not in the way we had hoped, but He answers. Can you imagine how He must feel after He has taken care of us time after time? Knowing, that once He has taken care of the situation and the crisis is over, we will often return to the world; going about our business and rarely thinking of Him until another problem arises and we need Him.
The good news is that God is merciful, He is forgiving, and even when we are using and abusing Him, He loves us unconditionally. Thank You Jesus!
Dear Lord, please forgive me for all the times I have taken You for granted. Please help me to not feel used or abused by others, but to look at them through Your eyes, with love.
