Jesus in the Workout Room? Stephen Thomas
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2 ESV
I had a chance to work out the other day with my son and his best friend. No matter how old the person or persons I am with, I remind them of the need to be safe. I pray constantly for their safety and protection.
I walked past a young man lifting weights and standing over him was a spotter. It did not matter how much weight they put on the bar, the spotter lent a physical hand and an encouraging word. "You can do it! I've got your back. I'm with you! I won't let you fail." Sound familiar?
Jesus, no matter how heavy the weights, will never let go of your bar. Jesus will never leave you holding too much (or too little) weight by yourself.
God told the prophet Isaiah that He would be with him. He would be there in deep waters, and He would be there amongst the raging flames. You should feel good knowing that God is your spotter.
Heavenly Father, it is a blessing to know that you are by my side at all times. Thank you for that reassurance. In Jesus' name. Amen.
