The Legacy of My Friend Paul Ken Ebright
"They spent their time learning the apostles' teaching, sharing, breaking bread, and praying together." (Acts 2:42 NCV)
"The believers met together in the Temple every day. They ate together in their homes, happy to share their food with joyful hearts." (Acts 2:46 NCV)
Paul also loved to eat; he worked as a waiter to help pay his way through school. When he came back to visit, we would go to restaurants that I have never been to before. When we broke bread together, he would talk to me about the Lord. He was very enthusiastic about teaching me about Jesus.
Two weeks after getting a clean bill of health from a doctor in the United States, he passed away suddenly. It took an hour for paramedics in Albania to get to him.
At the memorial service they had in the US, there were pictures of him sitting around a table.
Paul used food as a means of sharing the Gospel. There seems to be something about eating with people at a dinner table that puts people at ease. Sharing the good news of Jesus doesn't need to be intimidating. We can use food as a tool. That is what I will always remember about him.
