The Final Judgment Will You Be a Sheep or a Goat? – Michael Edwards “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.” Matt 25:31-33
The familiar interpretation of these verses in Matthew is one of works of the flesh. This brings confusion to many believers, making it appear that if you are not doing good works you are not saved. Now while it is true, those who believe will produce good works. Good works are a fruit of salvation for a believer, not a root of our salvation. The Bible only teaches one way to be righteous, right with God, and it is by faith. These verses in Matthew 25 are most likely talking about bringing the gospel to people, the word of life, not meeting the physical needs of hunger and thirst.
Those on the Left -“Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ Matt 25:41-43
Hungry: Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. John 6:35
