Wonderful Promises – Susan Ferguson
“For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our ‘Amen’ (which means ‘Yes’) ascends to God for his glory.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NLT) The Bible is packed full of God’s promises; the moment you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, you gain access to those wonderful promises. No matter what you are facing, the Bible has a promise that can strengthen you, comfort you, and help you overcome adversity. Find the promise that applies to your situation and take it to God in prayer. Below are just a few of His precious promises:
Jesus said that in this troubled world, you can have His peace (John 14:27).
God has promised to help you in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). If you are facing a crisis, know that you are not alone. God is with you, and He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8). Pray for His strength, and He will sustain you through hard times.
If you are a chronic worrier and cannot seem to stop, draw close to Christ and give your worries to Him. The Bible tells us not to worry about tomorrow, for each day has enough problems of its own. Trust your life to Jesus and live life one day at a time (Matthew 6:25-34).
If you have suffered a loss and your sorrow is great, God has promised comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He keeps count of your sorrows and collects your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). If you are sick - physically, spiritually, emotionally, or mentally - the Bible is filled with God’s promises for healing (James 5:15). Never underestimate the power of prayer, for there is healing power in the name of Jesus.
God loves you; He has promised that nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Heavenly Father, thank You for Your wonderful promises and for Your faithfulness to fulfill them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
