Strengthened - Karen Pourbabaee “Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword…” Hebrews 4:12 NAB
Have the strains of life left you weakened? Are you dragging on your journey? Is there a battle ahead you’re not feeling equipped for? God can meet those needs with His Living Word. Time to fortify your diet and pick up God’s greatest weapon. God’s Word is both food, the source of life, and a sword, a weapon of battle.
In Philippians 2, Paul charges the brethren to hold on to the word of life, the gospel, in their Christian walk. “…give me life in accord with your Word.” (Psalm 119:25) A total of seven times in Psalm 119 it is implied that God’s Word gives us life. It revives and strengthens us when we are weary. But it must be taken in and digested to yield life. Ingest it daily. Meditate on it to metabolize it. Believe it, for it must become a part of you, a living Word in your spirit.
“And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17) In this Pauline letter, the armor of God is spelled out. The Word of God is referred to as a weapon of battle, the sword of the Spirit. Once you are revived and strengthened with the food of the Word, you are now ready to take it up as a weapon. Now is the time to speak the Word and proclaim it. Now is the time to stop Satan in his tracks with the power behind the Living Word of God.
Lord, may I be strengthened with new life, that I may take up Your Word in the battle for Your kingdom. Amen.
