You are Loosed – Toni Babcock “They looked unto him and were lightened, and their faces were not ashamed.” (Psalm 34:5 KJV)
Jesus came upon a suffering woman bowed down for eighteen years with a spirit of infirmity. She literally could not stand and straighten herself up to look at the face of the Savior.
“And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, ‘Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.’ And he laid his hands on her; and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” (Luke 13:12-13 KJV)
Like the bent over woman in the story, one of Satan’s most diabolical schemes is to keep us bent down in spirit. He doesn’t want us to stand and look up to God and be lightened; he only wants to bring darkness into our heart, mind, and soul.
Satan is always scheming to find a way to rob us of the blessings of God in Christ. Jesus wants us looking up. Satan wants us looking down. Jesus wants us glorifying God. Satan wants us focusing on our problems, our shortcomings, and our past sins and regrets. Notice how Jesus said to the woman “You are loosed,” even before she stood up and was straight. Jesus says the same to us though we may be bowed down in spirit and focusing on our problems.
Don’t listen to the devil as he tells you “you are worthless,” “you are past hope,” “it’s too late for you” or “God doesn’t care.” Believe the Savior, trust His promises, and give glory to the One who sets you free. For those who believe, the Savior says, “You are loosed.”
