Unseen Interventions – Karen White The moment my tires left the train tracks I heard the whistle and there in my rear -view mirror was a train moving swiftly. On the very spot where mere seconds before, the tires of my car had been. I had been so focused on finding the address where I had an appointment that I failed to notice the approaching train.
As I steered my car to the side of the road with trembling hands, I knew God had intervened. Not only had He interceded to prevent my death, but by doing so had ensured that my three children, who were very young at that time, had a mother coming home to them that night.
Reflecting on that day, I thought of other times when I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God had intervened to prevent me from harm: physically, emotionally and or financially. I also remembered the numerous stories told by people who worked at the Twin Towers; those who for various reasons were not at work on that horrific September day. Others have told of similar circumstances that only by the grace of God are they alive to tell others about His intervention. But what about the times He has intervened, and we never noticed?
God has given us assurances within His word that He is always with us, taking care of us and protecting us from harm. One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Like the song, we sang as children says, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” What better place could we be than in His hands where He intervenes to protect us whether seen or unseen? Thank You, Father, for loving me enough to intervene in my life!
