Growing in Grace - Karen Pourbabaee “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18 NAS
God’s plan is that His children grow by means of grace. Grace is given by God and He calls us to meet grace at every turn in our lives. 2 Timothy 1:9: “… [God] called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus...” God provides the way for us to come to maturity in Christ. Grace is kind of like the spark plug getting us to where we need to be, to reach our destination. It provides forward motion and life! But we will never arrive without being responsive to His gift of grace, so here’s how:
Seek grace. Pray for it. “…find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
Let grace be sufficient. Rest. “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Fix your hope on grace. Tunnel vision works here. “…fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:13)
Stand in grace. Be immersed. “…be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 2:1)
Grow in grace, as 2 Peter 3:18 instructs. By responding to grace, we grow in knowledge and intimacy with the Lord, becoming confident in the power of His grace and the weakness of our own works and efforts.
Grace is found where Jesus is. “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men.” (Titus 2:11) Look for Him and all grace will abound to you!
