Finish God’s Tasks for You
Raymond Bouchoc

Summary: In Genesis 24, Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for his son Isaac. That servant models for us the steps to complete God-given tasks. Find out what those steps are.

Nothing feels better than successfully completing a task for God. Days filled with success can propel us forward with peace, joy, and a sense of a job well done. Nearing death, Abraham wanted to secure Isaac’s future concerning a wife. He sent his servant to find a wife among his relatives. The servant worried about succeeding, but Abraham encouraged his faith, “The God of heaven, … He will send his angel before you” (Gen. 24:7 NKJV for all scriptures). Acting on that faith, the servant did several things that model what completing a task looks like.

Identify God’s task and begin it: “Wait a minute! Shouldn’t we pray first?” The task had already been given by Abraham and put in God’s hands. The servant packed his provisions and went on his way (Gen. 24:10). So, get going. Begin the task.

Pray and expect an answer: The servant arrived, and the critical moment came. He prayed specifically for the right woman (Gen 24:12-14). Like the servant, be specific when you pray and expect God to answer. Jesus said that when we ask, we will receive (Matt 7:8). Faith that God will answer is part of every good prayer. Even while the servant prayed, the answer came (Gen 24:15-21).

Thank God: Jesus once healed ten lepers. Only one returned to thank Him (Lk 17:17–18). Be sure to thank God.

Finish the task: Even though God showed the servant the right woman, he still needed to talk to the family and gain their approval. Completing a task often involves cycles. Keep to the task. Keep praying. Keep expecting God to work. Keep thanking Him. Repeat these steps until the task is done.

Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant letter of the law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross.

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:20

Recent Amazon Review:

"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17
