Opportunity to Worship – Katy Foster My 15-year-old son asked if he could make a purchase online. I gave him permission, and since he does not have a credit card, the purchase had to be made in my name. My son wasn’t equipped with what was needed to contact the seller solely on his own. He fell short, and no matter how nice and mannerly he may have approached the seller, he was powerless to make the purchase. However, he found the power he needed to complete the transaction in my name.
Ending our prayers “in Jesus’ name” is not just traditional Christian lingo. In a like manner, on our own, we are not equipped to approach the HOLY, ETERNAL, OMNIPOTENT GOD OF ALL CREATION. It is only in Jesus name that we are empowered to approach the throne of grace in our time of need calling out to God our Father. He is the BREATHER OF OUR LIFE, OUR COMFORTER, OUR PROVIDER and FATHER, all because of Jesus.
God our Father, how intimate, and so humbling.
When we pray in “in Jesus’ name,” our Father welcomes us with open arms, and it reminds us of who we are in Christ. “In Jesus’ name” there is worship, and the acknowledgment of God’s SOVEREIGNTY AND LOVE. There is also thankfulness that Jesus provided the way, taking our sins and putting them to death to save us. There is no way anyone can come to the Father without the name of Jesus. But, in the name of Jesus, everyone and anyone is welcome to come.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 NKJV
