When I Am Weak, Then I Am Strong Deepika Emmanuel Sagar For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Cor 12:10 ESV
There are many situations in our lives which draw us closer to God; trials, suffering, and temptations that leave us empty and devastated. Our need for hope is what pulls us closer to God. The spirit within us knows the word of God is true, but our minds need to be renewed on a daily basis. This process of struggle goes on until we learn to completely rely on the faithfulness of God for everything.
When we find ourselves in a troubling time, we turn to Him and cry for help. We repent of doing things our way and once again try to walk in His. These struggles are for our good when they lead us to pray and read His word more, to draw closer to Him. Through the strength we receive from Him, we come out of sufferings.
But we often forget and heed Gods good advice only when it is convenient. Out of trouble, we are quickly back to our old ways, enjoying the worldly life while taking for granted the blessings God is still pouring on us. Once we become casual about our relationship with God, we open the door again for Satan to lead us down the wrong path. This time falling even deeper into the same pit.
Not until we recognize how weak we really are and need God in all thing, will we be strong. It is our pride that leads to destruction, and it never works in God’s economy. Lord, help me hold strongly to your word and seek your face always. Amen.
