Let Go of Your Truth - Emmanuella Ellis ’If your sons are careful of their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart,..”1 Kings 2:4 NASB
As an adult, I don’t believe in the tooth fairy. I did not believe this fable as a child either since the story was never passed onto me. I was led to believe that throwing my tooth on the roof of my home was a must if I wanted it to grow back. These are beliefs taught to children as truth.
As we grow, we often come to realize that our long-held beliefs are not true. At that point, we hopefully trade in what we believed was the truth, our truth, for what corresponds with reality. The truth.
God’s truth always corresponds with reality. If we are to walk before God in truth, we must first believe Jesus claim to be the Son of God and the only way to the Father. Since the Bible has proven itself to be true, we do believe.
Therefore, we place our faith in Jesus as our savior. Faith placed in the truth pleases God. Yet, we frequently have a hard time doing things one hundred percent God’s way, often walking in a mixture of his truth and our old beliefs, cheating ourselves of all that God wants for us. By refusing to let go of our old beliefs, we behave like disobedient little kids who do not trust their Father has their best interest at heart.
Why not decide to go all the way in believing your Fathers words? Not only will we please him by doing this, but we will also be greatly blessed as we walk on a firm foundation in the light of the truth.
