“I believe that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13 ISV
King David believed that he would outlive his troubles and see the goodness of God. Psalm 27 is his song of fearless trust in the Lord, concluding with his lyric of belief in verse 13.
What troubles and challenges do you carry into this New Year? What fears and despairs burden your soul? What losses leave you hopeless? Take an inventory and write them down. Declare your fearless trust in the Lord and, like David, conclude with verse 13: I believe I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. Let it become your song in the night, a heavenly lullaby, a musical prayer to the Father. Let God’s Word transform you; even as you sleep, your spirit ponders.
“I will remember my song in the night. I will meditate with my heart. And my spirit ponders.” Psalm 77:6 NASB
Sing it in the morning. Let it also be your prayer at dawn.
“Thy statutes are my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.” Psalm 119:54 NASB
Your heart will begin to change. God’s Living Word will implant hope. New-found strength and courage will bloom. Hope will bring light to your eyes and God will give you new vision.
It all begins with belief. You must believe that you will see. Belief comes before sight. The world says seeing is believing, but the true gospel order is believing is seeing.
Therefore, establish an unwavering trust in the Lord. Sing in the house of your pilgrimage. Believe and see His goodness in the New Year. Amen.
