Withholding from Daddy Emmanuella Ellis Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD with a whole heart, …….. 1 Chronicles 29:9a NASB
Kaela and Maxwell sat around the table enjoying fries and a burger at the Burger outlet. Their Dad asked them if he could have a few fries, but they both refused. Kaela and Maxwell were seven and eight years old, respectively. They have no job or money and could not transport themselves to the Burger outlet to purchase a kid’s meal even if they wanted to. Daddy was the only one who could do it all for them. Hungry for a few fries, he knew he was strong enough to get the food from them if he wanted to or to buy more for himself. But instead, he just watched as they enjoyed their fries.
It was interesting to watch them from across my table. Though hilarious to me, I knew that I was very much like Kaela when relating to God. He gives me everything, but when He asks me to give back some to accomplish His work, I often refuse. Its mine, I think to myself and so He can’t have it. Sometimes, I forget, He does it all for me. All the talents, gifts, wealth and opportunities He has given me, have been deposited in me for a time when He will need them for His purpose. We should be ready to give back joyfully to our heavenly Abba, Daddy. If we don’t withhold anything from His good use, His abundance will flow freely into our lives.
The truth is, He’s not after the things we have but after our hearts. Emmanuella has the desire to reach out to others using the understanding gained through the scriptures as a tool. Contact |
