Where is Your Dwelling Place? (Part 2 - Psalm 91) Karen Pourbabaee
“You shall not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day. Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.” Psalm 91:5-6 NAB
Fearless: If your dwelling place is with the Lord, you can be fearless in the face of threats. As believers, we face spiritual assaults day and night, terrors and arrows. Here’s God’s answer: “He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” (Colossians 1:13). “No weapon fashioned against you shall prevail…” (Isaiah 54:17). We reap spiritual and bodily protection within His shelter.
“Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come. You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.” (Ps. 91:7-8)
Watch: We live in uncertain times. Advanced communication systems bombard us with images and information. Stay aware, but continually return your watch to the source of your help and protection. Keep your eyes on the Lord!
“You have the Lord for your refuge. You have made the Most High your stronghold. No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.” (Ps.91:9-10)
Stronghold: If you’re sheltered under the Lord’s wings, He is your stronghold. A stronghold is a fortified place, one strengthened against attack. That’s where you want to live, safe from both evil and affliction.
“For God commands His angels to guard you in all your ways. With their hands they will support you lest you strike your foot against a stone.” (Ps.91:11-12)
Angelic Protection: Jesus is the commander of this celestial army, dispatched to guard and support us. “The life of man upon earth is warfare.” (Job 7:1) But the Lord provides victory by His might and angelic soldiers.
I will keep my eyes on the Lord, my refuge and stronghold, who commands His angels to guard me from evil and affliction, Amen.
