What is the Secret Place? How do We get There?

Fearful of Covid? Anxious when you hear dire reports of a second wave. Alarmed by daily death statistics? Are you praying for God’s protection, but listening to the wrong words?

A church near me has had three Covid deaths. Does that mean believers have no divine protection?

“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.” Psalm 91:5-8

Psalm 91 is specifically for those who “dwell in the secret place of the Most High.”

What is the secret place? It is abiding in His Truth under the shadow of His wings. How do I get into that place? Verse 2: I will SAY of the Lord, “He is my refuge, my fortress, my God in Whom I trust.” I say those words daily over myself and my household, because we have what we say (Mark 11: 23). I make my dwelling place inside God’s Word and His Truth. (vs. 4, 9, 14).

When I hear thousands more will die in a second wave, I speak to fear and doubt: “It shall not come near me.” Vs. 7-8.

A daily diet of negative reports, false news, bad predictions—this is more deadly than the virus. It builds fear. I tune out, open my Bible, feed my faith and starve my doubts. I speak God’s word to every imagination that exalts itself against His will. That’s the Secret Place.
