Welcome the Holy Spirit - Karen Pourbabaee “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38 NAB
The Holy Spirit must be received. He’s a gift from the Father, sent to the Church after Jesus’ ascension. I once read that the Holy Spirit is the CEO of the Kingdom. I thought it was a great way to think of Him. He’s essentially in charge, the great administrator of God’s purpose. The Spirit manages, oversees, and provides for God’s Kingdom on earth. He assigns tasks and equips believers with gifts to accomplish them. Therefore, we must be ever-vigilant to His presence, leading, and direction. We must welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives and acquaint ourselves with His roles:
The Eternal Advocate according to John 14:16. He supports, encourages, protects, and fights for us. Paraclete, Greek for Advocate, means “one called to the side of.” He is truly with us always.
The Divine Guide, as explained in John 16:13. He leads us to all truth, counsels, and directs The Presence of God on earth; in that, He comforts us and bestows God’s peace in our lives.
The Artisan of Prayer. Every time we begin to pray, it’s the Spirit that draws us by grace. He’s essentially our prayer partner.
The Giver of God’s Gifts, as indicated in Isaiah 11: 1-2: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
The Power of God, as announced in Acts 1:8 and demonstrated throughout Acts. He is our power in all weaknesses and the force that allows the impossible to become possible as we yield to Him.
May the Holy Spirit enliven us on our spiritual journeys, for His work didn’t end in Acts. Let us welcome Him in to accomplish His ongoing work in our lives and in the body of Christ. Amen.
