The Perfect Work of God - Karen Pourbabaee “Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4 NAB
David cried out, “The troubles of my heart have enlarged, bring me out of my distresses.” (Psalm 25:17 NAB) This sentiment is rampant throughout the Psalms. Most certainly, your own heart has cried out similarly to the Lord many times. Perhaps, your heart cries out this very day. We all want out, but God wants us to go through. Jesus said to His disciples: “I have told you so that you might have peace in Me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” (John 16:33 NAB) We must note that Jesus did not say if we have trouble; He emphatically stated, “you will have trouble.”
Be prepared. Trouble is promised as part of God’s plan to strengthen you and to mature you into the image of His Son, Jesus. James tells us to be joyful when trials are encountered. For God has a plan He wants to set in motion, if we allow our faith to be tested, and persevere. Don’t simply endure, but allow your faith to be expanded by allowing the Word of God to permeate your being—it will renew your mind and change your heart! “…be transformed by the renewal of you mind…” (Romans 12:2 NAB)
When trouble arrives, blessing is imminent. God’s hand is moving you into a process of becoming all He created you to be. Don’t hinder God’s work. Persevere through it. Hold on. Wait with God, for He promised: “God is our refuge and strength, An ever-present help in distress.” (Psalm 46:1 NAB) He will see you through it, for His perfect work is in the making. You are the perfect work of God.
