The Lord is Our Victory - Robert Schaetzle
Each day we confront circumstances we don’t expect, much like viewing things in the news that alarm or meet our disapproval — nevertheless we must acknowledge and come to terms with what’s going on. As believers, we know God is still with us.
Consider Moses, and later Joshua who led Israel to the promised land. They too, were met with fearful news and unknown circumstances. Mighty nations had to be conquered, and opposition would have to be faced in order to enter the land of promise. No room for fear and unbelief. God told the people: “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” (Deuteronomy 20:4 NIV)
Even today, whether it’s concern over worldly military conflicts or spiritual battles with the power of darkness, it is still the Lord fighting for us. It’s been a year of challenge against a global pandemic—and a year of life-threatening disease for many. Our land is filled with fear, anxiety, anger, and demonstrations of cultural indifference. Still, our Lord goes before us to bring us to a place of spiritual rest. Through faith, we can meet the challenge of ‘things not yet seen’ in 2021. We can learn to face it with courage as Christ lives in us, (see Galatians 2:20 NIV). So, let this be our hymn of refuge: “A Mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing!”
Remember, “The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress,” (Psalm 46:7 NIV) and “…Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world,” (1 John 4:4 NASB) AMEN
