Tapping into the Water of Life Sheriena McEvers
Remember the last time you did or said something that a believer probably shouldn’t? Our flesh, our natural self, can catch us off guard and trip us up. We can fall flat on our face, leaving us stunned, surprised, and embarrassed.
How is it possible? We are Christians. We have been connected to Jesus like a water hose to the tap. We are born again, new creations. So, how can we still think such thoughts, say such things, or desire such things? How can we react like that?
Because, we are relying too heavily on our abilities to live the Christian life without God’s help, using our natural skills. The flesh is natural and can’t be made spiritual and is in constant conflict with the Spirit.
For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. Gal 5:17 NASB
Our wills, emotions, abilities, reactions, and feelings must be surrendered daily to the Holy Spirit. It can be nothing of our abilities. We need the water of His Life.
Let’s permit the Holy Spirit to live for us in all areas of our lives. Let’s open the water faucet of His presence and let it flow through us with the peace, love, and joy we need to share with those in our lives.
Would life look different? Yes! Yes! Yes!
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10
Father in Heaven, help us to see the worthlessness of our natural abilities. You want to transform us from the inside out by the power of the Holy Spirit. Only the life of Christ can give us the ability to live a life that is pleasing to You.
