Speaking Faith - Karen Pourbabaee “Since, then, we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed. therefore I spoke,” we too believe and therefore speak.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 NAB
Faith is a gift, one that grows! We must pray to the Lord to increase our faith, as advised in Luke 17:5. Faith must be formed, grow in stature, and be professed. The faithful must have a speaking faith. So, how do we believers develop our faith over time?
Scripture is the foundation of our faith. It builds and nourishes our faith, as well as our peace, joy, love, patience, perseverance, and a host of all heavenly virtues. It is the rock upon which we can stand. “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” (Mathew 7:24 NAB) Build your faith on the rock of His Word! Read it. Trust in it. Pray it. Stand firm in it. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
Meditation is the ongoing work of our faith. It’s the process where we assimilate and digest the Word so it might become a part of our own spirit. When it permeates our thoughts, it will crowd out the enemy’s lies. It expands our faith so that we may live by it. “The righteous will live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)
Prayer is the voice of our faith. It is the spoken statement of our trust and confidence in the Lord. Prayer is an act of faith in itself. Our prayers are strung together with the chains of hope, that they may be held together until they come to fruition. Keep adding one prayer at a time to your chain of hope, for they will never be lost!
The Lord loves our prayers, our speaking faith in action. Amen.
