Right with God in Christ – Toni Babcock
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) addressed the danger of spending too much time obsessing over our sin and failure while neglecting to remember the great things Christ has done for us in his death and resurrection. It’s a tricky snare to fall into, because while we should be sorry for our sin and failure— constant remorse and self-loathing can be a favorite tool the devil uses to keep our soul in bondage and stop us from “looking unto Jesus, the Author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2 KJV)
Oswald reminded believers it’s important to get our minds off of ourselves “to the point of being sick to death of ourselves.” I love that idea — “sick to death of ourselves.” Think about it. Wouldn’t it be great if we all got so sick of looking inward at all our natural corruption and failure, all we ever wanted to do was to keep our eyes fixed upwards on Jesus and His victory? That’s where I’d like my eyes to be fixed, wouldn’t you?
“There is only one place where we are right with God, and that is in Christ Jesus,” Chambers went on to say.
Are you right with God in Christ?
