Peace, It’s A Gift - Jane H. Young
It’s one of those days — nothing seems to be going right in your world, so how do you respond? Is it Murphy’s Law (a tongue in cheek proposition that if something can go wrong, it will)? This kind of thinking will never help you out of a bad situation. When your thoughts go there, you’ve already accepted defeat.
Everyone has these kind of days, but not everyone handles them in the same way. Some get mad and lash out (usually at someone that has no idea what is going on) making their day in some cases even more miserable than their own. Then there are those that look for a solution to the problem or situation, who are not willing to surrender their peace of mind to anger and hostility. Whichever reaction you choose to take on any given day is up to you.
Jesus warns his disciples that there will be days that are not so good. “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace, In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NASB) This is just as true today as it was when He spoke it to His disciples.
When you’re having bad days, seek His peace, take a few minutes wherever you are, and then ask for His guidance and peace to help you walk through the problem — or walk away from it. Sometimes our problems don’t go away quickly and we have to walk through the trial, but we don’t need to walk alone. Let Jesus help you walk in peace. It’s a gift from Him that is yours to accept.
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” (John 14:27 NASB)
Lord help me receive your gift of peace and the strength I need to go through what is still ahead of me.
