O King of the Nations! - Karen Pourbabaee “Your kingdom come. Your will be done.” Mathew 6:10 NAB
Jesus answered Pilate upon his questioning, “You say I am a king.” (John 18:37) Jesus was called the King of Kings in Revelation 17:14. And the Father gave His Son a kingdom to rule over when He arrived on Christmas morn. This Kingdom of God is the realm in which God’s reign is experienced, a present realm where we may enjoy the blessings of God’s rule.
To be living in God’s kingdom is not an automatic reality. It requires a change of address. A move in direction. A change of heart. We all start out living in our own kingdoms. We like to rule our own worlds. But we all ultimately come to the conclusion that it’s not working out so well in our own kingdom. Things get messy and no one loves living in chaos, fear, and anxiety, in darkness, depression, and despair. We’re not designed to be kings and queens in the heavenly kingdom. But we were created to live there and enjoy the care and goodness of God.
As Christmas Day draws near. It can be a new beginning, a fresh new start. You can change your address. Receive a new heart, regenerated by the King of Kings. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you…” (Ezekiel 36:26) You can close and lock the door to your kingdom and walk the path to the manger. There your King waits for you.
If you’re ready to give up the kingship or queenship of your fallen kingdom, submit to the King of Kings. Surrender and pray: O King of the Nations, may Your kingdom come and Your will be done. Come, Lord Jesus and save me from the kingdom I’ve created. Amen.
