My Heart Cry's Out "Abba!" Michael Edwards Have you ever called God, Abba? Abba means Daddy.
Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" Gal 4:6 NAS
It took me a long time to grasp that our salvation, growth, blessings, peace, and joy as a believer are not about formulas of faith or rules. It is all about relationship. Pride kept me from using Abba for years as I tried to make God happy. What I have discovered is that Abba is happy and always overjoyed when His children press closer in relationship.
We all know that almighty God is the creator of all things. But now I know that He prefers to be called Abba, a term of tender endearment, by His beloved children. Jesus tells us that we need to change and become like little children, childlike faith, to enter the kingdom.
"Truly I tell you," He said, "unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matt 18:3 NAS
Using Abba makes me feel like a small child talking to his loving Father. I get a sense of wonderment and closeness that God, Lord, or the names of God, have never brought me. Abba wants us close by His side at all times, trusting Him and seated in Jesus finished work at His right hand. The closer I get to Abba, the more I see myself as that child, filled with faith, hope, love, joy, and peace, without a care in the world. Abba is taking care of me completely, and I never need to worry or fear. He is the best Father, best provider, and best comforter that will ever exist.
Let your heart cry out Abba to the King of kings. He knows the voice of his beloved children and His first response is always to their hearts cry. He wants a closer relationship with you.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" Romans 8:15 NAS Contact Michael and read more New Covenant studies HERE. |
