My Day Is All Planned - Jane H. Young
“Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3 NASB)
How much of your day is committed to God when your feet hit the floor every morning? I would venture to say most of us planned what our day was going to be like before we ‘hit the sack’ the night before—without giving any thought to what God’s plan for our day might be. However, the Bible says, “The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NASB) So when you’ve planned your day from start to finish, did you at least invite God to tag along?
God knows we have decisions to make each day we live our lives, but wouldn’t it be far better to ask Him first to see what He may have planned— and allow that to be our starting point for the day? With God directing our steps I’m certain our day will go a lot better. We need to go with His plan each day— not ask him to join ours. God should be in the front, guiding our steps — not an after-thought of an already planned day (as if to imagine, ‘oh yeah God, you want to follow me around’). “Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." (James 4:15 NASB)
Seek first God’s will for your day then make your plans, according to His directions. A day planned by God will be far better than any day we could ever plan on our own.
Prayer: Lord I give this day to you. Guide each step I take and help me only to walk in your will, and complete my day in a way that is pleasing to you.
