Look at the Birds - Marlene Custer
I love to observe our bird feeders. The one in the front yard and the other one alongside the tree line in the back attract a mixture of birds. There are eager sassy ones and ones that patiently wait their turn. The variety of colors is amazing—blue, yellow, yellow with black wings, grey and white, red, and some with purple shadings. Many have stripes or spots on their head, and some have markings on their wings or tail. I am impressed that none seem to worry that they might not get enough to eat. Anytime I refill the feeders, there is a constant stream of consumers. If I am away for a day or two and the feeders become empty, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Upon return, I have never seen any flitting around, wringing their 'hands' or flapping their wings in worry or despair. They find food somewhere else until I replenish the supply.
Observing the birds reminds me of Jesus' words in Matthew, chapter 6, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” It is easy to get distracted by life's cares—especially with all of the changes this past year. Always remember to Whom you belong. You are valuable to Jesus.
Paul reaffirmed Jesus Words to the Philippians, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus”
