While we do at times experience fear and worry in the present, they are almost always associated with the past or future. It is good to remember, we are most likely not living in the present when we find ourselves caught up in fear and worry.

Present things that create legitimate fear and worry can be dealt with tangibly. If you think about it, I bet you have done pretty well in the past when things have gone wrong. Maybe you have not reacted perfectly, but God has always been there to help you dive in and deal with the situation, always getting you to the other side.

On the other hand, there is usually nothing practical we can do to solve an issue that is in the past, or may come in the future. The problem is when we embrace the enemy's chant of what if. These thoughts about the past and the future, distract our minds and make us miss the present. Translated, the NT Greek word for worry and anxious in today's verses literally means to be divided or distracted. Satan’s goal is to divide and conquer our minds with tormenting thoughts of past or future things that have no solution in the present. These thoughts create fear, anxiety, stress, illness, addiction and more. The enemy focuses on past or future events where God's power and peace are not present to help us.

We know from God's Word and experience; God does not speculate on what if. His peace and power never leave or forsake the present moment where they are always ready for our actual times of need. God's solution is simple and practical. 

"Stop worrying and doubting My promises and the great love I have for you. When real trouble comes, I'll be there like always."
