Laughing – Harriett Ford
We had a head-standing event at Bible study. Who says God doesn’t laugh or want us to have fun? The fruit of the Spirit is joy! So why did my 60-something neighbor, Kathy, stand on her head at our prayer group? Here's the story: We heard the testimony of a suicidal young man who was sitting outside of a business. He said, "I don't believe there's a God, and I'm going to kill myself. But If there really is a God, I want Him to make somebody come stand on their head beside that coke machine."
A woman nearby had been arguing with the voice of the Lord, which had been speaking to her spirit. She asked, "Lord, do You really want me to stand on my head beside that coke machine?"
She finally obeyed and did it. You know how the story ends. The young man broke into tears, told her what he had been saying to God, and then he got saved.
We praised God and then took prayer requests. James 5: 15 speaks of anointing a sick person with oil and the prayer of faith will heal the sick. We obeyed the scripture's instructions. Sheryl was immediately able to raise her injured arm. The swelling in Mark's knee went down. All symptoms of arthritis left another person.
And Kathy is now our designated head-stander. Praise God! I’m thankful it’s not me.
