Knocking at Heaven’s Door Karen Pourbabaee
“To the one who knocks the door will be opened.” Mathew 7:8 NAB We knock at the door of heaven with our prayers. The Lord awaits and hears us, opening the door to listen more closely. So let us open our hearts and keep the words flowing. Our Heavenly Father will be attentive to each and every one. It has been said that prayer is an act of faith in itself, demonstrating our trust in God. “…all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.” ( Mark 11:24 NAB) God responds to our trusting hearts—to our faith, thereby giving us assurance of receiving as we pray according to His will.
A vast array of heavenly blessings God delivers through the open door of prayer, but always in His perfect timing. The Father hears our prayers, but sometimes His answers are stored until the right time—rather like lay-away—when we are prepared. Faith waits. Not impatiently, but with hope. For we must remember what St. Paul said in Romans 5:5: “ hope does not disappoint…” Wait hopefully!
There will be times the answers are not what we expect, for His answers are created according to His will. And at times, the Lord may lavish us with more than we can imagine—a little lagniappe “What eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NAB) That’s how great the love of our Father.
Lord, I kneel at heaven’s door in prayer. How comforting to know that You will always open it when my prayer calls and that You prepare my answer in love, according to Your will. Amen.
